My understanding is that they talk about swimming as being four times *harder* than running (in terms of calorie burn etc I think), so multiply a swim distance by four to get an equivalent run distance. Therefore a 10km swim is considered ‘marathon’ distance.
This kind of works for me as my first ever open water 10km swim took me almost exactly as long as my first marathon.

My guts feeling is, 1500m swimming (50min or so), is about 5000m running in the sense of intensity and energy burning. But on the other hand, it took me average 50 min to finish. To run 5k might take me 30min? Or forever.
观察了一阵,两个道里的大妈太慢,排除;一个道里的哥们体型健硕,自己一个人已经把泳道占满。只剩蓝色泳衣mm欢快的游着,鼓起勇气搭讪,说I will try keep it up with your pace,mm爽快的说没问题。游到一半的时候,大块头哥们离开了,mm换了泳道。不得不说,mm的速度嗖嗖的,带得我也不能偷懒,所以虽然可能没游够1500,但是锻炼强度绝对够了。游的很带感。
